You’re right. Our sense-making institutions have become polluted. It’s likely nothing in politics will get fixed as long as the news media is entirely a propaganda apparatus and voters have no source of objective information.
Both parties have gone insane. Democrats believe in open borders that reduce working class wages, that people can change their biological sex that destroys the rights of women to privacy and fair sports competition and encourage the sterilization of children as "gender affirming care", they tolerate homelessness, and urban crime. They discriminate against men and whites to compensate for historic discrimination against women and blacks.
Republicans deny the climate change that threatens humanity, dismiss the vaccines that reduce deaths from disease, believe that a single cell is a baby which threatens women's health, and support a sociopathic president.
Sigh, another “other than that Mrs. Lincoln” piece. Let’s hope for a day when we can return to the debate Oren tees up. Yes, both parties are ideologically bankrupt, and yes, we need modern ideas to address modern problems. But for the moment, we have far bigger fish to fry. Our first order of business is protecting the institutions undergirding our republic from Don’s demolition derby. If we can restore the rule of law, there will be plenty of time to debate the issues of the day.
There has been no worse act of a US president than Don’s insurrection and his accompanying election lies that continue to this day. Faith in our elections is a prerequisite to a functioning democracy, and Don’s lies have been hugely harmful. We only have one pro-democracy party today, and it isn’t my former party. This is not sustainable.
Next week brings another test. Many predict it will be a conventional midterm, and will render a negative verdict on the incumbent party. If so, how will the leader of Oren’s “new” right movement react? Will Don’s lies and subversive tactics continue? And if they do, how will party/business/think tank elites on the right react? For a dose of courage, they might look to the cabinet members and ex-staffers from Don’s first term who stepped forward to tell the truth, both under oath and through public statements. One can always hope…
You can't have a common citizenship if people inhabit different realities.

It might have been nice to hear this a few years ago. But it's still wonderful to hear it today. A reminder of what is really important.

A pox on both their houses.

All of what you're saying is true.
I dont trust demon-crats and they don't trust me
So how do we have a cease-fire of sorts to start rebuilding a positive, trusting and calm, rather than negative, paranoid and hysterical community?
I look forward to your ideas on this
