Having been an election monitor for a county over 2 million in population, I have observed every aspect of the central ballot counting process.

Since the votes are recorded on thumb drives at the polling places and plugged into a bank of laptops for tabulation, there is no observable way with the five human senses to determine if the count is accurate. Unless you have the ability to see electrons.

Anyone who loudly proclaims that our elections are an accurate count of votes marks themselves as a fool without evidence. Which is why we should use paper ballots counted in a visibly observable manner by a bipartisan panel of monitors.

Way too long! No actual situationally specific examples of anything, just a reasonable but bloated description of a rational process. The point could’ve been made in three paragraphs.

Excellent piece. In any sort of accounting system, reconciliation is the key process. I will add that anyone obstructing reconciliation, comes under suspicion of dishonesty and should trigger further investigation.

Ah yes, a specialty of the "new" right-election security. Faith in elections. This from the crew that swallowed and defended the insurrection orchestrated by their movement's founder-Don. It was the first non-peaceful transfer of power in our nation's history. Who can forget the thugs in MAGA hats beating cops with Confederate flagpoles, chanting for the hanging of the VP while constructing a gallows, chasing Josh Hawley (Mr Fist Pump) through the Capitol hallways, it was disgusting. All the while Don watched in silence as it unfolded on TV.

It's the worst act ever committed by a US president.

Sadly, Don's lies continue to this day. Polls consistently show around 70% of Republicans actually believe the lies, even sans evidence and serial losses in court. There is no question Don is the biggest vector of misinformation polluting the system. Election denial is literally a prerequisite to serving in the administration.

Trey, here's a good first step if you're serious about restoring faith in our elections-place a call to your leader and ask him to fulfill his oath of office. Meanwhile, spare us the lecture.
