At least the Rs are trying to check IDs and reduce the avenues for fraud in mail voting. The Ds seem hellbent on running elections as janky as possible, and pissing in the face of anyone who objects. Are they trying to provoke an angry response that they can use as a pretext for a crackdown?

Much too dismissive of the "conspiracy theory" of elections. There is credible evidence to support a lot of the controversaries and there always has been. Obama was not the first President to have a birther controversary. That would be Chester Arthur who may have been Canadian by birth. Americans tend to disbelieve this while Canadians believe. Better evidence for this than for the Obama case. The 1876 Commission was constitutionally questionable and tainted by the Republican legislature of Illinois electing a Democrat to the Senate and switching the balance of the Commission and further tainted by a deal to end Reconstruction. The saying of it is who counts the votes that matter was not coined by Stalin but by Boss Tweed. In 1960, Texas was clearly won by fraud which was the reason LBJ was on the ticket in the first place. The question in Illinois was only whether the Chicago machine's fraud was matched by downstate Republican fraud. 1800 was so questionable that it took a constitutional amendment to fix the process. The slogan of Jackson's campaign was "We was robbed". The previous election unlike 1876 had followed the constitutional process but there was a question of a quid pro quo. Even if there was no fraud in 2020 (there was), the election was still illegitimate because of the Supreme Courts decision that the Texas lawsuit had no standing. Apparently, Texas was supposed to secede.
